About the project:
Inspired by the ritual of storing beloved things, Dependables is a unique box system made out of solid walnut and oak wood. With an elegant stacking feature the boxes can be transformed into a piece of sculptural and functional furniture. The boxes are crafted by hand, carefully giving every little detail full attention.
LONG DESCRIPTION:
Dependables is a sculptural storage system inspired by the simple ritual of storing things. A box is the symbol of storing as a way of protecting and caring for our most precious belongings. The perforated sides of the Dependables gives a decorative appearance and allows us to have visual contact with the stored objects whilst being stacked away. Handcrafted details inside the box emphasizes the value of the stored objects as the rounded edges seem to shield them. A detail under the boxes makes an elegant stacking feature that can transform the simple boxes into a piece of sculptural and functional furniture.
The craft is omnipresent in Dependables. The boxes are made in solid walnut and oak, crafted in the wood workshop using classic woodworking methods such as joinery and milling. Every detail is carefully done by hand, leaving the work with a touch of life and personality – which is often absent in mass-fabricated products.
