benandsebastian — Artist duo

“We see our work as a constructive way of exploring the potential of doubt in relation to material culture.”

About:

Located between Copenhagen and Berlin, the shared artistic practice of Ben Clement and Sebastian de la Cour questions how gaps in knowledge can shape identity. Their work often awakens the viewers imagination through absence – lost objects, incomplete artefacts or excluded narratives that take the form of physical objects and spatial installations incorporating a high degree of craft, alongside an open dialogue with the ambiguity and incompleteness of history. While their pieces often create respectful yet tongue-in-cheek dialogue around Danish design traditions, their practice increasingly raises questions about the human species position within the natural and technological world, attempting to personify those aspects of society without a voice.
