“I often include objects in my works that I process within a textile context. I twist their meaning and create a dialogue between the original object and my work, highlighting their meaning through material and colour.”

About:

Utilising traditional yarns and knitting techniques, the work of Isabel Berglund is both recognisable and decodable. Through her artistic practice she explores the mediums potential and limitations, creating objects and spaces that embrace and challenge pre-conceived notions of her craft. Both concrete and abstract forms are brought to life through an explosion of colour and texture, positioning her work between the historical, contemporary and future thinking. Installations often incorporate the general public, expressing the mediums ability to provide social insight – illuminating human imprint of recognition, co-ownership and potential for change.
