Jakob Jørgensen — Artist and Designer

“I am interested in the balance between industrial geometric shapes versus sculptural and organic forms. The experiences are the same whether art or design.”

About:

Based in Saltuna on the island of Bornholm, the work of Jakob Jørgensen stretches from the purely sculptural to the highly functional. What unites both sides of his practice is an intense focus on materiality and their individual properties. Always seeking new ways to express his chosen material, each piece investigates how time and resistance can shape form and function. Working alongside Line Depping, his industrial focused work explores the longevity of wooden knock down joints and systems, while his artistic practice explores ideas of force and scale in his use of steel – resulting in a new language for the material. Sculptural and experimental yet deliberate, his two practices inform one another within a dialogue between the industrial and the organic.
