Stine Bidstrup — Glass Artist

“My creative process starts usually from a place of inquiry – the contaminated land around a centuries old Swedish glass factory, ruins in the Scottish highlands from the Highland Clearances, or simply how light can be explored to interact with glass.”

About:

Stine Bidstrup is a Danish glass artist, educator and art historian whose work and research explores optical phenomena, along with the interpretation and conceptualisation of ideas about utopian, architectural visions brought to life through glass sculptures, installation and video. Her curiosity revolves around the power of perception, context and point of view in constructing our understanding through vision, and how the human eye and mind are constantly engaged in a myriad of determinations and negotiations. By initiating active ways of viewing – fusing sight with spatial and tactile experiences, she creates work that not only envelopes the eye and touch of the viewer, but also interjects cultural layers of memories and events.
